Tech OT Chris Griffin probably out for season

April 4, 2015

Offensive tackle Chris Griffin is more than likely out for the season after knee surgery this past week, coach Paul Johnson said. Griffin, who started the first seven games of last season at right tackle as a redshirt freshman and played in 11, suffered the injury playing basketball in the offseason.

Griffin was expected to compete with Errin Joe for the starting job. The surgery removes one layer of depth from the considerable stock that Tech has compiled on the offensive line. Joe, who replaced Griffin in the starting lineup and started the final seven games of the 2014 season, is the likely starter, with Trey Klock, Jake Stickler and Will Bryan competing behind him.
