AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. - Georgia Tech’s appearance in the 2017 Chick-fil-A Kickoff game could be made official in a matter of weeks, athletic director Mike Bobinski said Tuesday at the ACC spring meetings.

Bobinski said that Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl president Gary Stokan told him that he was waiting on data from the Falcons regarding their new stadium – scheduled to open in 2017 – in order to draw up contracts for Tech and expected opponent Tennessee.

“All signs are very good,” Bobinski said. “Like everything, I’ll feel better when I see it and we sign it, but I’ve got no indication other than it’s happening and we’re still good to go.”

It will be Tech’s first appearance in the Chick-fil-A-sponsored kickoff game, which has been played at the Georgia Dome annually since 2008. The Yellow Jackets’ last game against Tennessee, once an SEC rival when Tech was part of the conference, was in 1987.
