Georgia State quarterback Nick Arbuckle and safety Tarris Batiste were honored by the Sun Belt Conference on Monday for their play in last week’s 34-7 win over Georgia Southern.
Arbuckle was named the conference’s offensive player of the week after completing 20-of-32 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 11-of-12 passes in the second half for 216 yards. He needs just 94 more yards to tie the Sun Belt’s single-season record for total offense of 4,254 yards.
Batiste had two interceptions and eight tackles in helping the Panthers clinch their sixth win of the season and earn an invitation to the Cure Bowl in Orlando, which will be played Dec. 19. The Panthers held the Eagles to a season-low 135 rushing yards and 203 total yards. That was the fewest in Georgia State history against an FBS team.
