Georgia State safety Tarris Batiste was named the Sun Belt Conference defensive player of the week on Monday.
Batiste, a senior, had an interception and three tackles in the Panthers’ 24-10 win over South Alabama last week at the Georgia Dome.
Batiste was part of a defense that set lows for points and yards (284) under coach Trent Miles.
Batiste is one of 25 seniors who will be honored Friday when the Panthers host Troy at the Georgia Dome.
