From China with love
Auburn grad and pro golfer Jason Dufner wouldn’t let his trip to China stop him from following his beloved Tigers.
He tweeted late in Auburn’s game against Texas A&M on Saturday: “Find a way.!!! The great firewall has blocked my @espn play by play of the game. No love.”
Dufner is attempting to come back from bulging discs in his neck, which forced him to cut his PGA season short in August. He’s playing in the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
He later tweeted “Back in the loop!!” with a photo of ESPN’s GameCast, just in time to watch Auburn, No. 3 in College Football Playoff rankings, lose two fumbles in the final three minutes in the 41-38 loss.
Tune up for Tuscaloosa
No. 1 Mississippi State (9-0) surely had next week’s trip to No. 4 Alabama on its minds, not that anybody could tell against Tennessee-Martin.
Dak Prescott padded his stats with 206 yards passing and two touchdowns and a 48-yard scoring run in the 45-16 victory to gear up for the Crimson Tide.
The Bulldogs haven’t defeated Alabama since 2007 and haven’t won in Tuscaloosa since 2006, when Mike Shula was the Crimson Tide’s coach.
Mississippi State is looking for its first SEC title since 1941.
Numbers game
14 Auburn's home winning streak, which was snapped by Texas A&M. The Tigers hadn't lost at Jordan-Hare Stadium in nearly two years, since Georgia won 38-0 on Nov. 10, 2012.
33 Consecutive games in which Ole Miss has forced at least one turnover, the longest streak in the FBS. The Rebels forced two turnovers in their 48-0 victory over Presbyterian.
He said it
"I told our kids this week that when you love something, you open yourself up to some hurts and disappointments. You also, because of your love for something, get to experience great joy and hope. It's a happy locker room in there." — Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze
"Nobody knew what was going on. Everybody thought they had the ball. Our guys played hard. It got down to the end of the game, and we made a couple of plays and they made some mistakes, and we capitalized on them." — Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin
