Players show Muschamp love

Will Muschamp lost plenty of games at Florida, but it appears he never lost the support of his players.

Defensive end Jonathan Bullard wrote “Mus” and “Champ” on his eye-black patches in Saturday’s win 52-3 victory over Eastern Kentucky, Muschamp’s final home game as the Gators’ coach.

Earlier this week, Dante Fowler Jr. tweeted he was turning pro, writing: “I came in with champ. I’m leaving with Him.”

“We don’t have any control over what happened, but as players we really appreciate what coach Muschamp has done for us, and we love him as a coach and a person,” quarterback Jeff Driskel told Gatorzone.com. “It’s tough, but at the end of the day we are happy that he came out of The Swamp with us.”

Muschamp will coach the Gators at Florida State on Saturday, but defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin will coach the Gators (6-4) in their bowl.

Plenty of pigskin

There will be plenty of SEC games to go with your turkey leftovers this week.

The football feast begins Thursday night, when LSU plays at Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m. and continues Friday, when Arkansas plays at Missouri at 2:30 p.m.

There are seven rivalry games Saturday, starting at noon, when Georgia plays Georgia Tech, and capped by the Iron Bowl, which begins at 7:45 p.m. on ESPN.

By the numbers

He said it

"We had a lot of screw-ups offensively, but our defense bailed us out. It was a very good win for us to be bowl-eligible and get win No. 6. We won't have a losing record in the regular season. We can be sure of that." — South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier after the Gamecocks' 37-12 victory over South Alabama

"I know we're playing as well as anybody. If you put us in a room with anybody, we could hang with them." — Bret Bielema after Arkansas' 30-0 victory over Ole Miss, the Razorbacks' second consecutive SEC win.
