The Clemson Tigers reached into Fulton County to grab the kind of linebacker who might help keep the Tigers in the top 10.

Three things to know about Tre Lamar of Roswell:

1. A defeat for SEC: Lamar picked Clemson over dozens of offers, including Auburn and Alabama. He announced his decision July 17 on Twitter and he is already enrolled. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker then went out and led the Roswell Hornets to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the Class AAAAAA state championship game.

2. Dominating playmaker: As a junior, Lamar blitzed through the A-gap, and according to Roswell coach John Ford, "completely vaporized a 6-5, 230-pound quarterback." It was just one of many dominating plays Lamar made during his career. Ford said Lamar's performance in the 2015 season opener against Lowndes was "the most incredible single game by a linebacker I have ever seen in person."

“We had to tell him to stop doing so much extra work outside of team workouts because we were afraid he was going to overwork himself,” Ford said. “Just an incredible kid and player.”

3. Numbers of note: Lamar recorded 157 tackles, 10 sacks, one interception and a blocked punt for the Hornets his senior season.
