Score another sports franchise for Atlanta.

Major League Lacrosse is expected to announce an Atlanta expansion team at a press conference to be held at Kennesaw State University this Friday,  according to Lacrosse Magazine.

The team is expected to begin play in 2016, the report says.

Details about a name, mascot or colors weren't immediately available.

The press conference comes ahead of the Major League Lacrosse championship game (between the New York Lizards and Rochester Rattlers; on air: CBS Sports), to be held in Kennesaw on Saturday. The university has hosted several professional and collegiate lacrosse events in the last few years, according to the report.

"With continued support, no question that city can host a really successful franchise," Rattlers goalie John Galloway said to the magazine. Saturday will be his third time playing at KSU, he said.

In 2014 MLS Commissioner Dave Gross said, ""It's a market we want to be in sooner rather than later," referring to rumors of a possible expansion.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution will have a reporter at Friday's press conference.
