Redshirt decision on Leggett in the air

Sept 2, 2014

Whether or not Georgia Tech B-back C.J. Leggett plays this season will likely be determined in the next two to three weeks, quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook said Monday. Leggett, a freshman from North Gwinnett High, impressed coaches in the preseason but missed time with injuries.

He is healthy, but could have a tough time earning playing time with Zach Laskey, Synjyn Days and Matt Connors ahead of him. Coaches will need to weigh the value of redshirting him against his potential for contributing this season as well as the usefulness of giving him experience going into next year, as Laskey, Days and Connors are seniors.

Cook said that Leggett’s readiness will be evaluated Tuesday and Wednesday practices this week and next. Tech typically practices in pads on those days.
