Stetson Bennett, the former walk-on who excelled against the Georgia first-team defense at times in 2017 as the scout team quarterback, has re-signed as a part of the 2019 recruiting class.

He left the Bulldogs after spring practice this year to pursue his opportunities at the junior college level.

The Blackshear native had spent this past season at Jones Community College in Mississippi.

Bennett finished the 2018 season at Jones leading the program to a 10-2 record. He completed 145 of his 259 passes for 1840 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. That was good for a 56 percent completion rate.

Bennett was nicknamed “The Mailman” because he was always on time with the ball plus his distinct choice of headwear - a U.S. Postal hat.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder can apply a redshirt year to his 2017 season at Georgia, leaving him with three seasons to play for the Bulldogs.
