One of two wide receivers in Georgia Tech’s signing class, Newnan High’s Pejé Harris has delivered his letter of intent to Georgia Tech. Tech announced the signing Wednesday morning on the first day of the early signing period.

“He’s just a team player, a guy that’s a Georgia Tech type of guy all around,” wide receivers coach Buzz Preston said of Harris on the team’s online broadcast Wednesday. “Really wants to be a great player.”

Harris has the size (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) that Tech likes at the position. Harris’ recruitment was unusual in at least one aspect. He didn’t bother to make his commitment widely public. Harris told coaches of his plans to come to Tech in January 2016, but it only became widely known in June.

Harris said he was “not trying to have everyone in my business. I know I knew and coaches knew and my family knew, so that’s all that really mattered to me.”
