After the team's first practice of the preseason, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson was asked about senior walk-on offensive lineman Michael Muns, who was awarded a scholarship for his final season Wednesday. Johnson's response reflected his clear appreciation for Muns, a civil engineering major on track to graduate in December.

“Michael Muns is a guy that’s been in the program now for three or four years and a guy that’s just worked and done what we’ve asked him behind the scenes. He’s fought through a couple of really major injuries and stayed out there. He’s one of the guys on our team that I think our guys respect, and it’s great when you get to a point where for their last year or whatever, where you have (available scholarships), that you can kind of help ’em out. He’s certainly earned it, and I’m happy for Michael.”
