Quarterback Jaquez Parks has left Kennesaw State’s football team.

Parks, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution high school player of the year in 2013, informed coach Brian Bohannon of his decision Wednesday morning. Parks recently was suspended from participating in Saturday’s spring game because of a violation of team rules.

“He didn’t feel like it was the right fit for him, and he’s going to elsewhere at the end of the semester,” Bohannon said.

Parks was among those competing for a starting spot until he suffered a knee injury last week. Parks said the injury didn’t affect his decision.

“At the end of the day I wasn’t happy,” he said. “I wanted to move on.”

Parks said he hopes to enroll in a junior college and then open up his recruiting. He hopes to continue playing quarterback.

Bohannon said he had a feeling that Parks was becoming unhappy.

“Just his demeanor and the way he carried himself, you could tell,” Bohannon said.

Bohannon said Parks would be welcomed back if he changes his mind.

Parks led Griffin to its first state title since 1978 and 15-0 finish in 2013. He passed for 3,640 yards and rushed for 1,329 and was responsible for 45 touchdowns.
