Georgia State falls on road in nationally-televised game

The Georgia State Panthers were overwhelmed in their nationally-televised game on ESPN Friday, allowing two touchdowns in the first eight minutes of their 59-22 loss at Memphis.

The Panthers (1-2) scored their first points on a 40-yard Barry Brown field goal with 4:51 remaining in first quarter and later added TDs in the second (Dan Ellington 1-yard run) and third (Seth Paige 1-yard run).

Georgia State added a late TD in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard interception return for a score by Terrance Dixon.

Brady White had five TD passes for the Tigers, who improved to 2-1. Darrell Henderson had 233 yards rushing and a pair of long touchdowns, a 54-yarder in the first and a 61-yarder in the fourth. Kenny Gainwell added a 72-yard TD run in the fourth for the Tigers.
