Jake Edwards is leaving the Georgia football team, and well on his way to deciding his next decision.
Edwards, a sophomore offensive lineman, confirmed on Friday that he is transferring from Georgia, after not seeing the field his first two years in Athens.
“I just wanted to look to get more playing time,” Edwards said. “So I decided to transfer.”
As he spoke, Edwards had just wrapped up a visit to Georgia Southern. He visited Chattanooga on Sunday and Monday. He said he expects to make a decision soon between those two schools.
Edwards said he had met with both head coach Kirby Smart and offensive line coach Sam Pittman, and does not expect a problem with his transfer release.
“I told them the schools I was looking at, and they said there shouldn’t be any problem, and that I was fine to go,” Edwards said.
Edwards was a consensus three-star recruit coming out of Heard County High School in 2014. He had a rough start to his Georgia career, suffering an ACL injury the summer he arrived, leading to a redshirt in 2014. That also put him behind in the competition last year, and did not crack the two-deep this past spring.
