A man is suing Ole Miss football players Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche, brothers from Grayson, for $2 million for beating a man at a party more than a year ago.

According to a complaint filed in Lafayette County Circuit Court on Friday, plantiff Matthew Baird claims Denzel Nkemdiche punched him from behind and knocked him unconscious. The complaint then says Robert Nkemdiche and five others — who were not named — began to kick and stomp Baird while he was on the ground.
Denzel, a linebacker, was a freshman at Ole Miss at the time, but Robert was a senior at Grayson High School, where the defensive end was one of the nation’s top recruits.
According to the complaint, Denzel allegedly hit Baird in the back of his head, knocking him out. Robert and five other football players who are not named in the lawsuit then allegedly stomped and kicked Baird while he was on the ground. His friend named Ford Everett dove on top of Baird to protect him, and he was beaten so bad that it burst his eardrum and damaged his middle ear.
Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork:
"When this alleged incident occurred, the proper authorities investigated the matter and could find no evidence of wrong-doing related to Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche or any other members of our football program. This is a personal matter for them and we will support Denzel and Robert while they defend themselves in this civil case."
Denzel Nkemdiche, who was All-SEC as a freshman in 2012 and missed time with injuries last fall, was already suspended indefinitely after being arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace over the weekend.
Robert was on the All-SEC freshman team after he had 29 tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks in 10 starts.
