Georgia State has a lengthy injury list heading into this week’s game at Texas State.
The Panthers (2-6, 1-3 Sun Belt) will take on the Bobcats (2-6, 1-3) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The good news is running back Kyler Neal may return, if he can handle contact in Tuesday’s practice, according to coach Trent Miles. Running back Taz Bateman was scheduled to undergo another X-ray on his broken forearm on Monday to determine if he can return. Neal has rushed for 246 yards in six games. He suffered meniscus damage in his knee in the win against Ball State. Bateman has rushed for 102 yards in two games.
Probable
Guard Alex Stoehr (Ankle). If Stoehr can’t go, Davis Moore will start.
Doubtful
Linebacker Ed Curney (turf toes): Kaleb Ringer and Chase Middleton will likely start. Curney started and played in Saturday’s loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter said he thought Curney played well after the first two series. He also said Middleton played well.
Tight end Keith Rucker (hamstring): Bill Teknipp, Ari Werts and Cory Lidle will split snaps if Rucker can’t go. Rucker has turned into a weapon in the offense with 24 catches for 277 yards and five touchdowns.
Offensive lineman Tyler Simonsen (sick).
Cornerback Chandon Sullivan (Shoulder): Bruce Dukes and Jerome Smith will likely start if Sullivan can’t go, with Robert Dowling or Antreal Allen coming in if more than two defensive backs are needed.
Linebacker Joseph Peterson: Like Trey Payne, Peterson didn’t play in last week’s loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. Peterson is team’s leading tackler with 78, six more than safety Tarris Batiste.
Questionable
Tackle Sebastian Willer (ankle): Michael Ivory is starting and Lucas Johnson will be the backup if Willer can’t play.
OL Taylor Evans (shoulder): Moore is also Evan’s back-up.
Out
Linebacker Trey Payne (hamstring). Payne is sixth on the team with 36 tackles.
