What to know: Cooper's other scholarship offers were from non-FCS schools, according to his high school coach Jim Kremer. Kremer said the closeness of Georgia Tech to home was a factor in why Cooper chose to become a Yellow Jacket.

Kremer, who coached Vic Beasley and Warren Sapp in high school, on Cooper: "He's one of the best high school players I've ever coached. … He's extremely athletic for his size. He's also kind of a gentle-giant type of kid. Out on the field he plays the game like he's supposed to but off the field, he's a gentleman."

Kremer on how Cooper will fit at Tech: "He's more than capable of playing at that level, either in the ACC or SEC. They're going to try him at both defensive line and maybe at center or something like that. But you know, a lot of people put a lot of stock in (players' rankings). … In my eyes, I'm trying not to be bias, but I think he's a five-star player is what they got out of Kenny Cooper."

Kremer on Cooper's official visit: "He thought (his official visit) was really neat. … He came back wide-eyed. He came back, and I could tell he was very excited."

Kremer on what makes Cooper a unique player: "Kenny has a very quick first step, which is very hard to coach. Not everybody at the ACC or SEC level has that great first step, and Kenny possesses that for sure. Very explosive and very tenacious. He plays until the whistle blows, which at a young age of 18 years old, he knows how to play the game and he plays it very hard."
