What to know: Chose Georgia Tech over West Virginia, Tennessee and Miami

Former North Marion High School coach Stephen Field on what makes Wood great on and off the field: "He's just a kid with unbelievable character. Great personality. Great family background and structure. Mom and dad are unbelievable people with grandparents involved in his life. Academics first. I want to say he got straight A's last nine weeks. He's just everything you'd want in a young man athletically and academically."

Field on Woods' threat to opposing offenses: "He's just aggressive on the field. Great feet, long arms, very strong. He's a great run stopped as well as in getting to the quarterback and in passing situations."

Field on Woods' uniqueness he'll bring to Tech: "His strengths are he'll fit in academically. He's going to fit in, as far as football-wise. He's great against the pass and the rush. He'll be a great player in the ACC, and I think he'll be one of their top guys. … Not only does Georgia Tech have an unbelievable football player, but they have a better person. He's a spiritual person. He keeps God first, and he'll be doing great things."
