Jair Hawkins-Anderson

Position: Wide receiver

Committed: Dec. 26

Height, weight: 6-foot-1, 185 pounds

Hometown: Suwanee

What to know: Chose Georgia Tech over Louisville and Illinois. Recruited to play wide receiver for the Yellow Jackets, according to Northview coach Chad Davenport.

Davenport on Anderson's athletic talent: "That's probably the best thing about him right now is that he's extremely athletic, an extremely hard worker, works hard at getting better every day. … He passes the test first. He's 6-foot-1, about 190 pounds and can run and jump, so he fits a lot of things that college coaches like. … You always love to have one like him every year because they're good football players, they're also good people to be around. You don't have to him causing you problems or what they're doing away from you and that was the case with him."

Davenport on Anderson being recruited as an athlete: "He played everything for us. I think they were recruiting him as an athlete, but they're going to start him off at wide receiver, and I feel like that's going to be good for him to work at that position. In the next couple of years, he's going to be the guy that for what they like to do, have that receiver who can hit the long-bomb for them. With his speed and athletic ability, that's really what they're doing. … I think that's what he's going to be for them."

Davenport on why Anderson chose Tech: "I think ultimately it comes down to the long recruiting process. There's lots of things that appear to be real and then there's things that are real. … I think throughout it all, Georgia Tech was with him, when they offered him last summer, at their camp, they never wavered on it. It was never a conditional offer. It was legit. It was 'we want you as a priority' and I think ultimately, what convinced him. The coaches were here, present and in constant communication. … I think in the end, he kind of saw that Georgia Tech was with him from day one, they never wavered, and he liked that."
