The day before his team was to start preseason camp, Georgia Tech A-back Broderick Snoddy voiced no concerns about his first practice since his gruesome leg injury suffered last November against Clemson.
“I’m ready to go, most definitely,” Snoddy said Friday just prior to checking in at the team hotel.
Snoddy broke the fibula and tibia in his left leg last Nov. 15 at Bobby Dodd Stadium, a season-ending injury that required surgery to repair. Snoddy was healthy enough to run track late in the spring for the Yellow Jackets and take part in summer workouts.
A big hurdle was planting and cutting on his left leg, one he said he has cleared.
“I knew that it was going to come to a point in time where I had no choice but to step up,” he said.
Snoddy sounded like a young man who has faced his fears. It would be a critical development for the Yellow Jackets, who do not have any other A-backs with considerable experience. Snoddy began to receive increasing playing time last season prior to the injury, rushing 28 times for 283 yards, including an 82-yard, three-touchdown performance against Pittsburgh.
“I’m not going to be thinking about taking contact,” Snoddy said. “I’m just going to go out there and perform.”
