Georgia Tech return specialist Juanyeh Thomas was named ACC specialist of the week after he returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown against Georgia on Saturday in Athens.

It was the second consecutive week that Thomas had scored returning a kickoff, following his touchdown against Virginia on a return of a free kick. (Returns of free kicks are categorized as kickoff returns.) In scoring again, Thomas became just the fifth player in school history to score on two kickoff returns (which is the school record) in a career. He became the third Tech player and first freshman to do it in one season.

He’s the only Yellow Jackets player to return kickoffs for scores in consecutive games. He became the seventh Tech player to earn ACC recognition this season, following quarterbacks TaQuon Marshall and Tobias Oliver, left guard Parker Braun, defensive end Anree Saint-Amour, linebacker Jalen Johnson and kicker Wesley Wells, who was named ACC specialist of the week last week with four field goals against Virginia.
