To the arena’s long history of memorable buzzer-beaters, Tadric Jackson made his contribution Tuesday night.

The Georgia Tech guard made a buzzer-beating layup to beat Northwestern 52-51 at McCamish Pavilion, giving the Yellow Jackets their most significant win of the young season. Tech (4-1) led 47-38 with 6:30 to play before giving up the lead with an 11-0 run in which the Jackets seemed flustered, turning the ball over five times in six possessions.

But Tech steadied itself, and, after Northwestern center Dererk Pardon’s putback with 7.1 seconds remaining gave the Wildcats the lead at 51-50, Jackson took the stage. Guard Jose Alvarado took the inbounds pass and drove upcourt, finding Jackson on the left wing, where he slashed to the basket for the game-winning points, setting off a frenzy in the stands and on the floor.
