Former Georgia Tech wide receiver Micheal Summers, who transferred from Tech to play for Georgia Southern as a grad transfer, will not play against the Yellow Jackets due to a knee injury suffered in the preseason.

Summers has not played in any of the Eagles' five games this season, undoubtedly a disappointing turn of events. Summers grew up in Statesboro and was eager to return home for his final season of eligibility, he said in May, to be an example to the youth of his hometown.

In him, “they can see a product of their hometown, a person who in a sense kind of beat the odds and got out and was able to come to Atlanta, come to Georgia Tech and be a student-athlete and get a degree and come back and give back to his community,” Summers said.

Summers played in 34 games for the Jackets, starting 26. He caught 29 passes, including 12 in 2015. He left the team with three games remaining in the season.
