The chair that helped make Georgia State coach Ron Hunter famous and launched a thousand memes is tucked safely away under lock and key in the GSU Sports Arena.

The chair, which has its own twitter handle (@ronhunterschair) with 510 followers, will soon "receive the recognition it deserves," a Georgia Sports sports information spokesman said. He declined to say what those plans are because they are still being formed.

For those who don’t know, Hunter was forced to use a chair while coaching in the NCAA tournament because he tore his Achilles tendon celebrating winning the Sun Belt tournament.

Not much thought was given to the chair, a piece of office equipment with a blue seat, until Hunter fell off of it after R.J. Hunter hit a 3-pointer to hit Baylor. Suddenly, everyone from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to the New York Times was writing about the chair. Trainer Dinika Johnson, who found the chair in a storage area at Georgia State and put it on the bus before the team left for Jacksonville, was profiled on ESPN.

The chair could not be reached for comment.
