Sitting out senior day with a knee injury was no joy for Georgia Tech nose tackle Shawn Green, but he has a chance to make up for it Saturday. After sitting out for the first time this season, Green will return to the lineup for Saturday’s Georgia game with the chance to earn his first win over the Bulldogs.
“Get one last shot at ’em,” Green said. “That’s about it. It’s that simple. It’s exciting.”
Green has played an important role for the Jackets as a senior, starting 10 games and helping control the interior of the line. After an injury-plagued career, he made 10 consecutive starts this season until the Clemson game, which he missed with the injury suffered against N.C. State.
“It did eat me up a little bit, but as soon as the game started, all that went out the window,” Green said.
Green said Tuesday that the knee felt good and that “everything went great” in the day’s practice. Having Green back in the lineup should allow defensive coordinator Ted Roof to move Patrick Gamble back out to defensive end, where he has been used recently with Green and Adam Gotsis in the middle.
