Days after an official visit, shooting guard Asanti Price of Columbia, S.C., committed to join Georgia Tech’s 2019 signing class.

Price announced his decision Wednesday, following his visit to Tech this past weekend.  He also had offers from Kansas State, Charlotte and East Carolina.

Price is rated by 247Sports as a three-star prospect, the No. 411 prospect nationally, the No. 74 shooting guard and the No. 11 player in the state of South Carolina.

It is not the typical ranking for an ACC player – the shooting guards rated directly above and below are a Brown commit and a Bowling Green signee – but coach Josh Pastner has had success with under-the-radar prospects previously, most notably Josh Okogie and Moses Wright.

Okogie was ranked the No. 182 player in his class and the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia (247Sports Composite) in the 2016 class, but left Tech as the No. 20 pick in the 2018 NBA draft. Wright was not rated by multiple recruiting websites at the time of his commitment in April 2017, but showed signs of consistent productivity as this past season came to an end.

Price, a 6-foot-5 guard from Keenan High, led his team to the Class 3A state championship and was named an all-state selection. He has also undergone a growth spurt in recent years, perhaps a factor in his recruiting interest.

"He's got pro range for the 3-ball, and he defends exceptionally well, and he's very, very athletic," Keenan coach Zach Norris said. "He's got bunnies. He can get up off the floor."

Price’s commitment leaves Pastner with two available scholarships. The signing period begins April 17.
