Georgia State’s Abigail Tere-Apisah advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA singles championship on Saturday with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Duke’s Beatrice Capra in Athens.

Tere-Apisah will face Cal’s Lynn Chi at noon on Sunday for the right to play for the title.

Tere-Apisah, a senior from Papua, New Guinea, hasn’t faced Chi before.

After dropping the first set, Tere-Apisah broke Capra in the second set to take a 4-2 lead.

Capra took the first game of the third set, before Tere-Apisah rolled through the rest of the games.

Tere-Apisah, a two-time All-American, has advanced farther in the championship that any individual in any NCAA tournament in school history.
