Georgia State’s men’s basketball team may be in the running to land transfer Charles Mitchell of Maryland.

Jon Rothstein of CBS sports reported the possibility.

Mitchell is a 6-8, 260-pound forward who played at Wheeler High School. He averaged 6.5 points and 6.3 rebounds last year as a sophomore for the Terps. He is also reportedly interested in Clemson and Georgia.

Georgia State doesn’t have any scholarships available. However, coach Ron Hunter could take son and standout player R.J. Hunter off scholarship, which would open a spot.

Should Mitchell enroll at Georgia State, he would be another in a quickly lengthening line of transfers into Ron Hunter’s program.

Earlier this year, guard Kevin Ware (Louisville) and forward Jeremy Hollowell (Indiana) announced they were transferring to Georgia State.

Last year, guard Ryan Harrow (Kentucky) transferred in and helped the Panthers go 17-1 in the Sun Belt and win the conference’s regular-season championship.

In the past, Manny Atkins (Virginia Tech) and Curtis Washington (USC) also joined the Panthers.
