Georgia State’s baseball team was eliminated from Sun Belt tournament scenarios after a 2-1 loss at Western Kentucky on Friday.
The Panthers entered the three-game series in eighth place, knowing they needed to win at least two games to give themselves the best possible chance of continuing their season in the tournament, which takes only the top-eight teams. The two losses, combined with a win by Arkansas-Little Rock, sealed Georgia State’s fate.
The pitching wasn’t there in Thursday’s 10-1 loss and the bats weren’t there in Friday’s loss.
The Panthers (24-31, 10-19) left 12 men on base, including the bases loaded in the fourth, on Friday.
