Marlon Character stuck with is commitment and signed with Auburn despite Will Muschamp leaving the Tigers for South Carolina.

Three things to know about Character:

1. Name fits: South Carolina coach Will Muschamp tried to get Character to follow him to Columbia, but Character stuck with his commitment to Auburn. "I think he just liked the atmosphere and environment (at Auburn)," said Earthwind Moreland, Character's high school coach at Grady.

2. Versatile defender: The 6-foot-1, 170-pound safety fought though injuries during his senior season to record more than 50 tackles and pick off five passes. He played primarily at safety, but got some experience covering slot receivers in man-to-man coverage.

3. Warrior on field: Moreland described Character as a quiet teenager off the field. "When he's on the field, he kind of changes," Moreland said. "He's a leader."
