Golden seeing improvement in footwork

April 4, 2015

Georgia Tech safety Jamal Golden said his two priorities for the spring were to improve his eye discipline and footwork. Saturday, secondary coach Joe Speed Golden is making progress through eight practices.

Speed said that Golden has trained his vision well, making sure he’s watching his keys, and is getting quicker breaks on the ball.

“That tells me his instincts are getting even better,” Speed said. “He’s comfortable back there.”

Speed said that Golden has also led a young group of safeties well, imparting his knowledge of the defense to them. Golden has 18 career starts and is a rising fifth-year senior with 40 career games played.

“I applaud him,” Speed said.
