Georgia Tech players got their first look at the alternate jerseys they’ll wear Saturday against No. 3 Clemson at a team meeting prior to their Monday practice. Initial reviews were quite positive.

“They’re amazing,” B-back Jerry Howard said. “Everybody got lit up when they saw them.”

The jerseys are navy with gold numbers and trim, along with white pants and the traditional gold helmet. As Tech typically wears white both at home and on the road, players have sometimes expressed a desire to wear a non-white jersey more frequently. Tech last wore a non-white jersey at home in 2015 against Virginia Tech.

“Love them,” A-back Qua Searcy said. “I feel like the guys are going to play extra hard with the new jerseys. Nobody wants to lose in new gear.”

The uniforms are a tribute to Tech’s 1990 national championship team, which wore navy jerseys with white pants at home and also in their Citrus Bowl win over Nebraska that secured their claim on the national championship.

“They’re nice-looking,” quarterback TaQuon Marshall said. “I’m looking forward to wearing them. It’ll be fun. Got a 3:30 game, don’t have to wake up early, get to put on some new uni’s, so it’ll be fun.”
