Georgia Tech’s Jordan Woods, a four-star defensive end, likely will redshirt this season, according to coach Paul Johnson.

Johnson said Woods suffered an “upper body injury” that likely will require surgery.

Woods, 6-foot-4, 262 pounds, earned all-state honors at North Marion High School in Citra, Fla. after making 65 tackles, including 9 1/2 sacks, his senior year.

Johnson said the coaching staff didn’t get a chance to evaluate Woods, but that he should return in time for practices in the spring.

Johnson said senior wide receiver Ricky Jeune has missed a few practices but should return Friday.
