Georgia Tech’s P.J. Davis expected to be able to play vs. Miami

Nov 18, 2015

Georgia Tech linebacker P.J. Davis is expected to be able to play in Saturday’s game against Miami after suffering an ankle injury that forced him out of the Virginia Tech game last Thursday. Safety A.J. Gray could also make a return after missing the past two games with an undisclosed injury.

Davis was not made available for interviews Tuesday, an indication that he did not practice. Typically, a player would need to practice by Wednesday in order to play in a game that week. However, coach Paul Johnson said following Tuesday’s practice that “I think he’ll be able to go.”

Davis leads the Yellow Jackets in tackles with 65 and also has the most tackles for loss, six. He has been nagged by repeated ankle injuries, though he has yet to miss a start.

“It’s almost got to be hanging off of him for him not to go,” linebackers coach Andy McCollum said.

Of Gray, Johnson said that “He’s practicing, so we’ll see.”

Gray has been an impact player in limited playing time with 20 tackles in eight games.
