Trent Miles' Georgia State Panthers will open the season Wednesday, Aug. 27, against Abilene Christian at the Georgia Dome.

Georgia State will host the first FBS football game this year when it takes on Abilene Christian at the Georgia Dome on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The NCAA granted Georgia State a one-time exemption to play on Wednesday, a day before FBS teams are allowed to play.

The exemption was asked because the Georgia Dome will host two Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games, one on Thursday and the other on Saturday. Additionally, there may be a Falcons exhibition game at the Dome that Friday, the 29th.
