Georgia State’s Spring Caravan will make eight stops in the metro Atlanta area this Spring.

Panthers coaches Trent Miles, Ron Hunter, Sharon Baldwin-Tener and others will meet with alumni and other supporters on:

April 7: Alpharetta

April 8: Smyrna/Vinings

April 9: Decatur

April 14: Lawrenceville

April 15: Jonesboro

April 16: Kennesaw/Marietta

April 21: Tucker

April 23: Buckhead

The sites of the meetings will be announced.

The caravan is another step in the athletic department’s attempts to connect with alumni on a more grassroots level. The Panther Athletic Club has a goal of reaching 2,000 members by July 1, 2017. The PAC closed 2014 with 950 members.

Signing Day: Georgia State will host a free Signing Day event on Feb. 4 at the team's practice facility at 188 MLK Drive SE. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., with the coaches reviewing the players that signed at 6 p.m. That will be followed by a social hour at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to register by Jan. 29. The Panthers have signed eight junior-college players and six players that have transferred from Alabama-Birmingham.

Baseball: The baseball team began practice for the 2015 season on Saturday. The season opens Feb. 13 with the Panthers hosting the inaugural Atlanta Challenge, along with Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State. Liberty, St. John's and Fordham will play one game at each of the three state schools, rotating on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Panthers will be led by Matt Rose, who hit 11 home runs last year. Only eight returning players hit more homers than he did last year.

Major work was done to the GSU Baseball Complex in the offseason with the infield and mound re-constructed.

Football: The university is still trying to find replacements for Alabama-Birmingham on this year's and next year's football schedules. A university spokesman said they are close to finding a replacement.

Women's tennis: Under new coach Jason Marshall, the Panthers began defense of their Sun Belt title with a 4-0 win over Elon in Florida on Sunday.

The squad made school history last year by become the first women’s team to advance past the first round in an NCAA championship.

This year’s team looks much different than last year’s.

Gone is top seed Abigail Tere-Apisah, who advanced to the semifinals of the singles tournament.

Newcomers Niri Rasolomalala took over the top seed and Kristin Rehse the third seed. Linn Timmermann, moved up one to the No. 2 spot.

Men's tennis: Under new coach Brett Ross, the men's team is 1-2 this season. The Panthers will open the Sun Belt season on Saturday.
