Georgia State men’s basketball coach Ron Hunter got the point guard he wanted to add depth and competition with the addition of graduate transfer Jeremiah Davis.
The Panthers were going to enter the 2016-17 season with one point guard, Austin Donaldson, on the roster.
Davis started at Cincinnati before transferring in 2014 to Ball State, where he averaged 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He made two starts in 22 games and only played in nine of 18 games in the MAC, none of them starts. Davis will have one year of eligibility remaining.
At 6-4, 210 pounds, Davis would be by far the largest point guard Hunter has had in his five previous seasons on Decatur Street.
The Panthers went 16-14 last season after going 25-10 in 2014-15 and winning the Sun Belt for the second consecutive year.
With the addition of Davis, the Panthers are going to very deep at guard at next season. The team is scheduled to return Donaldson, and off guards Isaiah Williams, Isaiah Dennis, Jeff Thomas and Devin Mitchell. Hunter will also welcome signee D’Marcus Simonds.
Hunter has one scholarship remaining.
