Georgia State football coach Shawn Elliott continues to fill out his staff, which includes the hiring of former Buford coach Jess Simpson.

Simpson’s role hasn’t been announced because the hire hasn’t been cleared by human resources.

Simpson has been a part of 10 of Buford’s past 11 state titles. His record at Buford was 164-12.

In addition to Simpson, Elliott also reportedly hired Rusty Wright, formerly of Tennessee-Chattanooga, as linebackers coach; Travis Trickett, formerly of Florida Atlantic, as offensive coordinator ; Cedric Williams, formerly of South Carolina, as offensive line coach; and Sam Shade, formerly of Samford, in an undefined role.

Elliott, formerly an assistant at South Carolina, was introduced as Georgia State’s coach Dec. 9.
