Georgia State running back Taz Bateman is out for the season after sustaining a torn ACL in his right knee, according to coach Trent Miles.

The injury occured on the first day of camp, last Thursday.

Bateman will redshirt. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Bateman rushed for 253 yards last year in a season shortened by a broken arm sustained in the second game against New Mexico State. He missed six games.

Bateman was one of the better players in the spring, making numerous big plays running and receiving and was going to be in the mix to receive carries this season.

The position group is deep with Glenn Smith, Kyler Neal and Kendrick Dorn, among others, returning.
