Georgia State adds Charlotte power forward

Willie Clayton is transferring from Charlotte to Georgia State.
A power forward, Clayton will sit for the 2015-16, per the NCAA transfer rules, and have one season of eligibility remaining.
Clayton is a 6-foot-8, 238-pound native of Thomasville. He averaged 6.3 rebounds per game last year, including 3.09 on offense, and 7.3 points in 22 starts. He finished his 49ers career with 17 games with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds, 10th in school history.
Clayton will use the last scholarship Georgia State had available for the upcoming season. Clayton joins Alabama transfer Devin Mitchell, Jenkins High forward Malik Benlevi and Jonesboro High guard Austin Donaldson in the Class of 2016.
Georgia State won the Sun Belt’s regular season and tournament titles last year.
The team returns starters Kevin Ware, T.J. Shipes and Markus Crider, as well as key reserves Isaiah Dennis and Jordan Session, and transfers Jeremy Hollowell (Indiana) and Isaiah Williams (Samford). Jeff Thomas will also be eligible after redshirting last year.
Georgia State coach Ron Hunter said Clayton will help Shipes and Session improve at center through their work together during practice.
