Georgia State football has added a home-and-home series with Ball State for 2015 and ‘16.
The Panthers will travel to Muncie, Ind. to play the Cardinals on Oct. 17. Georgia State will host Ball State on Sept. 1 or 2 to open the 2016 season. Georgia State went 1-11 last season.
The games will replace those scheduled against UAB, which dropped football.
The Cardinals, which count David Letterman as an alum, went 5-7, 4-4 in the MAC last year. The team returns 22 seniors and 28 juniors. That group includes quarterback Jack Milas, who passed for 1,302 yards last year, leading receivers Jordan Williams (753 yards) and KeVonn Mabon (717 yards) and second-leading rusher Horactio Banks (353 yards) on offense. The team also returns leading tackler linebacker Zack Ryan (91) and leading sacker defensive tackle Darnell Smith (four).
Georgia State will also play non-conference games this season against Charlotte (Sept. 3 or 4) and Liberty (Oct. 3), and will play at Oregon (Sept. 19).
