Georgia Tech led handily in the first half against Georgia on Sunday and battled their way to their fourth win of the season, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 52-45 on Sunday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (4-0) led the Lady Bulldogs by as much as nine points in the first period, but outlasted a Georgia rally in the second half, in which the Lady Bulldogs led for 8:42.

Starting forward Zaire O’Neil, the Jackets’ leading scorer Sunday, scored 20 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field and 4-of-7 at the free-throw line. O’Neil finished the day with four fouls. O’Neil was injured late in the fourth quarter and returned with 2:42 remaining in the game.

The Jackets shot 33 percent from the field and 24 percent beyond the arc Sunday compared with Georgia’s 32 percent from the field and 23 percent beyond the arc.

Starting forward Elo Edferioka was injured by Georgia’s Cailyn Robinson in the third period. An offensive personal foul was called on Robinson, who fouled out of the game in the fourth quarter. Edferioka did not return to the game but was on the sideline with ice on her right shoulder in the third quarter.
