Georgia football’s recruiting efforts have continued amid a worldwide pandemic, as evidenced by another commitment for the 2021 class Monday.

Jonathan Jefferson, a 4-star defensive lineman from Douglasville, committed to the Bulldogs over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech and a host of other scholarship offers.

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound rising senior at Douglas County High ranks as the No. 11 strongside defensive end in the nation and No. 143 prospect overall for 2021, according to the 247Sports Composite ratings. Jefferson plans to enroll early at UGA.

Jefferson is the second defensive lineman and fourth player overall to commit to the Bulldogs’ next class. He joins 5-star quarterback Brock Vandagriff, athlete David Daniel and defensive tackle Marlin Dean.

DawgNation reports that Jefferson is the son of former heavyweight boxer Derrick Jefferson.

Jonathan Jefferson was Georgia’s second commitment of this month. The Bulldogs, like all NCAA schools, are in a period in which they are limited to telephone contact with recruits.

Georgia signed the nation's No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2020. The ’21 class currently is ranked 12th.
