When Isaac Nauta and Jacob Eason first arrived in Athens over two years ago, they were supposed to be the future of the Bulldogs’ offense.
They were the highly touted quarterback and tight end, yes, but also they were college roommates, a pair seemingly destined to make their mark on Georgia together.
Eason threw for 2,430 yards and 16 touchdowns as a true freshman. Nauta on the receiving end of 112 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2016.
But it wasn’t meant to be. Eason injured his leg in the first game of the 2017 season in September, yielding to freshman backup Jake Fromm. Eason never got his starting job back, and Fromm led the Bulldogs to the national championship game.
Now Eason, who is from Lake Stevens, Wash., and has been granted his release from Georgia, reportedly visited Washington's campus on Sunday according to Ruth Robbins of RealDawgHuskies.com.
Nauta is hoping for a breakout season in 2018, but first he took to Instagram to recognize his friendship with Eason:
“Don’t even know where to start with this one, but what a ride 10,” Nauta wrote. “Can’t believe you’re headed out today, because this wasn’t how we planned it or thought it was gonna be. I’m going to miss the hell out of you my boy and the house ain’t gonna be the same without you in it. I’m excited for you to go ball out again and see you sling it around. Hell of a friend, and hell of a quarterback, love ya 10.”
