Georgia Tech’s basketball season is complete. The team will not seek an invitation to the College Basketball Invitational, a six-year-old tournament whose field is largely made up of mid-major teams that do not make the NIT but also usually attracts a few power-conference teams.
Coach Brian Gregory, athletic director and senior associate athletic director Ryan Bamford discussed the possibility of playing in the CBI Friday, but decided against it. Following the Yellow Jackets’ overtime loss to Clemson in the second round of the ACC tournament Thursday, team members Robert Carter, Marcus Georges-Hunt, Trae Golden and Daniel Miller all expressed a desire to keep playing, but Gregory said that “it’s easier to discuss it if you’re at .500.”
Tech’s loss to the Tigers dropped its record to 16-17. The Clemson loss proved to be the final career game for Miller, Golden and forward Kammeon Holsey.
