Former Georgia Tech forward Robert Carter has signed with Maryland, ending a month-long process for him to find a new school. Carter averaged 11.4 points and 8.4 points as a sophomore this past season. Among other schools he considered after announcing his intention to transfer were St. John’s , South Carolina and Kansas. He went on a visit to Maryland earlier this week.
Maryland, which will leave the ACC and join the Big Ten this summer, has a signing class that is ranked No. 9 in the country by ESPN. Those players will be sophomores after Carter sits out a year. Carter arrives as five players have transferred from Maryland. One of them, forward Charles Mitchell, could actually end up at Tech, as the Wheeler High grade has left the school to be closer to his ailing grandmother.
