Detroit Lions General Manager Bob Quinn told Pro Football Talk.com that doesn't know anything new about when or if Georgia Tech legend Calvin Johnson will retire, and Quinn told the web site that he's still giving his star wide receiver time to decide what he plan to do.

“I have spoken to Calvin, I did speak to Calvin, I’m not going to go into any details about what we talked about, and there is no update on his status right now,” Quinn said in an article posted on the PFT web site Wednesday. “I don’t have any expectations. We had a good conversation. He didn’t tell me if he’s leaning one way or the other. We’re giving him time to make that decision. There’s no deadline.”

He attended a Georgia Tech basketball game Feb. 3, but declined to confirm the reports.

Asked about trying to get Johnson to accept a restructured contract, Quinn told PFT that the subject hasn’t even come up within the Lions organization, let alone talking to Johnson about it.

Johnson played at Tech from 2004-06. He was a highly decorated recruit out of Sandy Creek High and ranks as one of Tech’s best and most popular players ever.

In his NFL career, Johnson has played in 135 of a possible 144 games, catching 731 passes for 11,619 yards and 83 touchdowns. In 2012, he caught a career-high 122 passes for a career-high 1,964 yards. However, his career-high 16 touchdown passes came the following season.

His total of 1,964 receiving yards in 2012 is the most in a season in NFL history. The 122 catches rank tied for seventh all-time in a single season. His career receiving yards rank 27th all-time.
