Redshirt freshman Brice Ramsey came in at quarterback for Georgia on the third offensive series of the game. Senior Hutson Mason played the first two series.

Ramsey came in with 5:15 remaining in the first quarter and led the Bulldogs on a scoring drive of seven plays and 74 yards. He was 2-of-3 passing for 31 yards during the series, which ended in a 13-yard Todd Gurley touchdown run.

That gave Georgia a 14-0 lead. It also seemed like it might have lit a fire under Mason, who has struggled with the deep passing game this season.

Mason came in on the next series and immediately hit Chris Conley for a 44-yard touchdown on a deep post over the middle. It was his longest pass completion of the season and gave the Bulldogs a 21-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Anything thoughts of a true rotation developing ended by halftime, however. Ramsey did not return to the field in the first two quarters, though fellow backup Faton Bauta did for one play. Bauta came in to run a keeper off a zone-read play in the middle of Georgia’s last offensive series of the first half. That one ended with Mason’s second touchdown pass of the game, a five-yard throw to Chris Conley.

The Bulldogs’ 195 yards passing in the first half was a high for a whole game this season.

Ramsey finally came back into the game with six minutes remaining and the outcome in hand.
