Wheeler High power forward Romello White signed his national letter of intent with Georgia Tech Wednesday, arguably the most significant player in what is expected to be a three-player haul for the Yellow Jackets in the early signing period.

“We feel great about the signing of Romello White,” coach Brian Gregory said in a statement. “He brings a skillset, energy level and physical presence that will impact our program immediately. He has proven his ability to score around the basket and from the perimeter, while also showing great rebounding skills.”

White, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward, is ranked among ESPN’s top 100 prospects in the class of 2016. White had been committed to Tennessee before re-opening his recruitment after a coaching change there. White previously attended Peachtree Ridge High and the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Tech has also received commitments from Shiloh High small forward Josh Okogie and small forward Christian Matthews of Clinton, Md., but had not received their letters of intent on Wednesday, the first day of the one-week early signing period. Okogie said in a text message that he has signed his letter of intent and would fax it in Thursday. Matthews, whose school observed the Veterans Day holiday, intended to sign Thursday.

Okogie is ranked in the top 150 nationally by Rivals and was also recruited by Kansas State and Tennessee. Matthews, who attends the same school that Tech freshman forward Sylvester Ogbonda did, was recruited by N.C. State and Cincinnati.
